Welcome to my world of bird and wildlife photography! I'm Garry Turnquist, I live in the Texas Hill Country, and I'm thrilled to have you join me on my journey through the natural world.
My photographic journey isn't just about taking pictures; it's about telling stories, painting portraits, and preserving moments that often pass by in the blink of an eye, or moments that we never saw at all. Each click of the shutter is an opportunity to freeze a split-second in time, a moment of pure magic shared with these remarkable creatures.
Through my lens, I strive to showcase animal expressions that are generally missed. The expression in a bird’s eye, the curiosity many mammal species exhibit for that split second when they first realize you are there, but do not see you as a threat, or the moment the landscape comes to life with a burst of color from a sunrise or sunset. My aim is to share the incredible biodiversity that surrounds us.
Whether I'm perched quietly in a blind, hiking the many trails available to us all, or patiently waiting for the perfect shot, I am constantly in awe of the beauty and resilience of the natural world. It's this deep connection to the environment and its inhabitants that fuels my dedication to wildlife photography.
Beyond photography, I'm also passionate about conservation. I firmly believe that through visual storytelling, we can help raise awareness and foster a greater appreciation for the species that share our fragile ecosystems and that we must protect for future generations.
